Donavon Opens the Louisiana State Senate's Special Session on Ethics with Prayer - Senators Amedee, Chaisson, Broome
Governor Bobby Jindal has called for a special session of the state legislature to reverse a long history of ethical concerns in our state and blaze a new, more positive trail. That special session opened yesterday and I was asked to pray over the senate as they were called to order. It was an honor. Valerie and I were treated like royalty and were able to interact with several senators, their staff, lobbyists, senate security and many others.
We met Senator Jody Amedee, who is our senator here in Prairieville. He is a young attorney and very cordial. We also met the current senate President, Senator Joel Chaisson and Speaker Pro Tempore, Senator Sharon Weston Broome. Valerie really connected with Senator Broome, especially regarding our interest in helping addicts. It was very cool!
One last note, I prayed that God would lead the senators in their work and about how we were not leaning on our own understanding but on God's help - as I prayed this - there were senators saying, "Amen!" and "Yes!" Once again I realized, I am no longer in the Mid-Atlantic or the Northeast, I have indeed returned to the land of my fathers - the Deep South!
Thanks to Mike Davis who recommended me. He wears many hats! Mike represents the Pastors' Resource Council, Healing Place Church and Louisiana Family Forum. I'll post pics as soon as the senate photographer emails them to me!
Peace . . .

Donavon, I concur with John. That rocks! You're not just in the city, but the city is in your heart. And it shows. Keep doing what you're doing.
